The Malcolm Gordon Charitable Fund (MGCF) focuses its grant-making on environmental education projects and programs in the mid-Hudson River Valley to increase awareness of environmental issues, and to help conserve and steward the landscapes of the mid-Hudson River Valley.
The Malcolm Gordon Charitable Fund historically has given several awards annually ranging from $5,000 to $15,000; past gifts have supported a range of endeavors, whose goals are reflected in the MGCF’s mission.
Examples of past awardees:
- New York-New Jersey Trail Conference: Bear Mountain Trails Project - to expand the trail network and train a new generation of volunteer trail builders.
- Hudson Highlands Land Trust (Multi-year): Support for Hudson Highlands Regional River of Words Education Program (ROW) - School based educational program focused on promoting literacy, critical thinking and environmental stewardship.
- Constitution Island Association: Support to create a book to illustrate (visually and through words) the beauty and environmental significance of the Hudson River Valley.
Application to the Malcolm Gordon Charitable Fund is by invitation only. Grantees are normally selected by the MGCF Advisory Committee in the fourth quarter.

Barnabas McHenry Awards
 Since 2007, the Open Space Institute has awarded grants in the arts, environmental conservation, historic preservation, and tourism in the Hudson River Valley.
