Good Analysis Driving Action

We can’t buy it all. To be successful, the land conservation movement needs new tools and strategies that go beyond direct acquisition and conservation easements in order to protect critical open spaces.

In 2006, the Open Space Institute launched the Conservation Research program in order to bring practical solutions to the land use challenges facing conservation practitioners, funders and policy-makers in the 21st century. Guided by staff with expertise in finance, planning and forestry, the Research Program works in partnership with leaders across the country to conduct and disseminate thoughtful analysis that can guide smart conservation.
