Connecting people with the land remains foremost for the Open Space Institute, and thanks to our supporters and partners, 2018 was an exceptional year for OSI in making these connections. FORMER OSI STAFF Now PARKS COMMISSIONER
The New York State Senate officially confirmed Erik Kulleseid as Commissioner of New York State’s Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. Kulleseid was previously Senior Vice President at OSI, where he led state park improvements and expanded recreational access to protected land.

OSI OFFERS GRANTS FOR DELAWARE WATERSHED
OSI's Delaware River Watershed Protection Fund has released a request for proposals for Capital, Transaction, and Catalyst grants with an application deadline of July 25. The Fund, launched in 2014, seeks to ensure abundant clean water through land protection and land use planning.

SEEKING BEST PRACTICES IN CONSERVATION
OSI is pursuing renewal of its accreditation by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance. Among the largest accredited conservation groups in the nation, OSI has been accredited for more than 10 years.

OSI helps protect ADK foothills property
Thanks to an OSI grant to the Northeast Wilderness Trust, more than 2,400 acres of pristine habitat has been permanently protected in the Adirondack Foothills.

BUILDING BRIDGES AT FAHNESTOCK STATE PARK
For the second straight year, OSI has partnered with cadets from the United States Military Academy at West Point and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to replace a trail bridge on the School Mountain Road Trail in the Hubbard Lodge area of Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park.

OSI AWARDED EPF grant for trail PLAN
OSI received a $50,000 grant to establish a recreation trail corridor in Saratoga County. The Conservation Partnership Program grant, made available through the state’s Environmental Protection Fund (EPF), will allow OSI to continue its conservation work in the Palmertown Range in Saratoga County.
